Awful awful awful. Worst service I've ever received. If you want to feel like you're crammed into an attic, experience 100 degree temperatures, and deal with extremely unpleasant bartenders (and pay a cover for all of this) then this place is for you.
Granted i have not been here for some time. But the one star reviews are unfair. They are written by uncool people who don't know how cool this place is. It's a speakeasy. It's way too cool to have a sign. Red Door. that's it. it's not designed for large crowds. What speakeasy is, after all?
The Red Door is the place that first drew me into Portsmouth. It is a fun, intriguing experience from the moment you walk through the unmarked Red Door. The doorman, Michael, is the best. The winters just have DJs on the weekend but there are amazing acoustic acts in the summer. They have great cocktails and the vibe is classy and intimate. The mood changes throughout the night and it's a super fun place to people watch.
Always playing the latest house music and keeping the crowd moving. The espresso martini is one of the best in the area. Highly recommend if you like dancing!
