I love this place. Best lobster rolls I’ve ever had!! My only issue- where you sit determines what menu you get...you eat outside? Outside menu. Downstairs? Downstairs menu. What if I want to sit outside and eat pizza? I guess I can’t. Kind of weird.
FYI try the Badger's Island (Buffalo Chicken Pizza). It's awesome.
Perfect place for everything! Restaurant for dinner, dance floor for dance, outside, live music. Staff is successful too. Their service is so good but if you wanna get the best, you should go there when Tommy is working. Thanks for such a wonderful dinner Tommy!!
Review based on outdoor seating experience: We went here with a group of eight friends and we were lucky to get an outdoor table on a Thursday evening. The waitress didn't have a great recollection of the beer menu, so I settled on a basic Shock Top. It was nice to sit outdoors and have a drink with friends while listening to live music. I got the buffalo tenders which were great and my wife got the Mozzarella B.R.A.T. which she really enjoyed. Be aware you cannot order pizza outside. -2 stars for slow service, including the lack of a draft beer menu accessible at the table and fairly high food prices considering ($12 for buffalo tenders w/o fries).
I've been eating at the Gas Light since before I was born (literally, the night I was born my mom ate here!) While the upstairs restaurant might be a tad overpriced for what you get, the pizza downstairs has been a staple of Portsmouth cuisine for decades. Following the devastating fire that closed the business and forced renovations, the quality took a noticeable nosedive for a few months after their reopening. However, it appears they have ironed out any issues they had following that period, as quality seems to be back to normal the past few times I've eaten there.
Pizza is good. Service was a little late getting to our 4 person party. Late as in I had to go get a server and ask for service. He tried to make it right. Happens to the best of us. Plus the music during my visit was so 2012...update the music.....
